JOHN W. HUBBARD (sternwheeler) — (Newport, Kentucky)

The former towboat JOHN W. HUBBARD once served as a restaurant in nearby Covington, KY. The JOHN W. HUBBARD aka MIKE FINK is designated an historic vessel and placed on the National Historic Register, May 20, 1982. In 1982 the boat was one of only two remaining sternwheelers registered in the state of Kentucky on the Ohio River.

Profile Description

In 1977, Ben Bernstein purchased the Mike Fink Restaurant in Covington, KY from Captain John Beatty.  Moored just below the Roebling Suspension Bridge,   BB Riverboats ran out of this location for about ten years before becoming part of Covington’s riverfront entertainment complex, “Covington Landing”, where it operated until 2005. In 2005, BB Riverboats moved up to Newport, KY, where it is located today on Riverboat Row.  The company is now run by Ben Bernstein’s son, Alan Bernstein and his wife Mary.
